ENAV and Telespazio hosted a key demonstration day at the Fucino Space Centre as part of the SESAR Joint Undertaking U-ELCOME DSD Project, showcasing real-world scenarios of advanced drone operations. The event brought together major Italian stakeholders in Advanced Air Mobility (hashtag#AAM), highlighting concrete steps toward the integration of hashtag#Uspace services across Europe.
During the demo, the Fucino airspace was segmented into two interoperable U-Space volumes—one managed by D-Flight -Flight (a JV of ENAV and Leonardo) and the other by the Spanish U-space service provider ITG Technology Center . Both volumes were interconnected via the Common Information Service Provider (CISP) operated by D-Flight, ensuring seamless data exchange and cross-border operational interoperability.
Telespazio participated both as an ENAC-certified drone operator and as a technology enabler, providing its proprietary T-DROMES platform for mission planning, monitoring, and control.
Three operators—Telespazio , Techno Sky, and TopView S.r.l. —carried out advanced drone missions simulating power line inspections, photogrammetry, and precision agriculture, demonstrating the practical applications of U-space in real environments.
This demo is part of U-ELCOME, a flagship SESAR 3 JU Digital Sky Demonstrator initiative coordinated by EUROCONTROL’s innovation hub and involving 51 partners across Italy, Spain, and France.
